Orange Krush
Hello Future Illini,
Being a part of Orange Krush for the past several years has been one of the best things I have done on this campus. For those of you that have watched the Fighting Illini play basketball at Assembly Hall, I am one of those crazy orange-clad fans on the floor. I have enjoyed courtside seats at every home game and have snuck into several Big Ten arenas and surprised their fans on Orange Krush road trips. Interacting with other fans, the team, and the coaches has been amazing. The highlights have included a Final Four victory celebration and an 18-hour bus ride to Minnesota to cheer on our Illini.
Not only is the Orange Krush considered the most intimidating student section in the country, but it is a charity foundation as well. To join Orange Krush, you must first become a member of the Illini Pride Student Athletic Board, a registered student organization that is open to all University of Illinois students. As a member of Illini Pride, you become eligible for membership in the Orange Krush. Membership is contingent upon your participation in the Orange Krush 3-point shot program, which raises money for local charities. Members must find people that will make a pledge for every 3-pointer the Illini make that season. Over the past 8 years, Orange Krush has donated over 1 million dollars. This past year, Orange Krush was the only way to get a guaranteed student ticket.
