Year: Junior
Major: Political Science & Spanish
College: Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS)
One-on-One
What are your favorite places to study, hang out, and relax?
I like to mix up where I study. This semester I’ve probably spent the most time at Grainger and the Union. My favorite places to hang out and relax are at my fraternity house, at the union, or at Firehaus.
What clubs or organizations on campus are you involved with?
Sigma Phi Epsilon, social fraternity.
Spanish community based learning. I help second grade students in a bilingual classroom at a local elementary school. This is a program offered through the University.
Illinois Student Senate Governmental Affairs Committee: Student committee intended to serve as a liaison between the student body and the local, state, and federal government.
Pi Sigma Alpha, political science honorary society.
Why and how did you choose your major?
I was not sure what I wanted to study when I got to Illinois. I really enjoyed my intro to political science class here, and I decided to take another, similar class. It didn’t take long for me to know that this was what I wanted to study, and I’ve definitely been happy with my decision.
Describe your most memorable experience at Illinois.
Right now, I have to say that my most memorable experience has been his past Illinois football season. It might sound ridiculous, and it’s something I can’t really explain, but there was this awesome feeling of pride around campus when the team was doing so well.
What is your advice to prospective students?
I would simply say get involved as soon as you get to campus. You have literally thousands of groups and activities on campus to choose from, so it’s just a matter of finding what interests you most and then getting involved. It might take a few tries, but I really believe Illinois ahs something to offere for everyone, so be proactive about finding what that is for you.
