One-on-One
What are your favorite places to study, hang out, and relax?
My favorite place to study is my room. I need to be comfortable and relaxed with no one else around to be complete focused. I love hanging out with my friends at their apartments or houses. We love to go see movies or eat out. To relax, I walk my dog around campus.
What clubs or organizations on campus are you involved with?
As a member of the Business Honors program, we develop honors students into strong business leaders to serve their communities, the University, and each other. The Business Council is a service organization that provides students with a richer and fuller education. I am also a member of the social sorority Alpha Chi Omega and the Undergraduate Business Newsletter. As a member of the Campus Honors Program, I am able to work with distinguished faculty members who teach specially designed, small classes.
Why and how did you choose your major?
I’ve been interested in the corporate world, so I chose accountancy because I felt that it would open doors for me when I graduate. I chose to minor in finance to help make me a well-rounded businesswoman.
Describe your most memorable experience at Illinois.
One of my most memorable experiences at Illinois was actually before I was a student. After visiting Illinois as a high school senior, a friend and I stayed for the rest of the afternoon exploring the campus. Walking around, I imagined myself as a college student. We had so much fun and I just couldn’t wait to become a part of it all.
What is your advice to prospective students?
Relax. Everything will work out and the transition from high school to college is not as intimidating as it may seem now. There are so many ways to make Illinois a part of your life and find where you belong.
